Donald George Privette, affectionately known as "Goober" to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2024, in Laurens, SC, at the age of 57. Born on November 17, 1966, in Union, NC, Goober was a man whose laughter and creativity brought joy to all who knew him.
Donald was the beloved husband of Doral Privette, with whom he shared a life full of love and adventure. Though he was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Privette and Mary Ann Tucker, and his brothers, Cecil Franklin and Henry Jack Privette, his legacy will continue to flourish through his cherished sister-in-law/daughter, Virginia Gail Overstreet, sister in law Karen Cantrell (David), brother in law David Overstreet (Christine) and his nine nephews, and three nieces, who will forever remember his loving guidance and his knack for making every gathering a memorable one.
Despite not pursuing higher education, Donald was a testament to the value of hard work and dedication. He earned his GED with determination and went on to become a respected plant foreman at Boggs Paving. For 23 years, he was an integral part of the team, known for his expertise in running heavy equipment and for his commitment to his colleagues and the company.
Outside of work, Donald was a man of many interests and talents. He was an avid fisherman, finding solace and joy in the quiet moments by the water. His passion for the outdoors extended to riding his cherished motorcycle Trike, camping in the serenity of nature, and tending to his garden. He found great satisfaction in raising chickens and exploring the countryside on his 4-wheeler, often with a smile on his face and the wind in his hair.
Those who knew Goober will remember him as a loving soul with a sense of humor that could light up the darkest of rooms. His creativity was evident in everything he did, from the meticulous care of his garden to the inventive ways he found to entertain his family and friends. Donald was a man who lived his life with a generous heart, always ready to lend a hand or share a joke, ensuring that laughter was never in short supply.
As we say goodbye to Donald, we celebrate the life of a man who was much more than the sum of his years. He was a beacon of love, a wellspring of humor, and a craftsman of life's simple pleasures. His absence will be deeply felt by those who were fortunate enough to know him, but his spirit will continue to inspire us to embrace life with the same passion and joy that he did.
A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Donald's family invites all who knew him to reflect on the happy memories and the warmth he brought into our lives. We will carry his legacy forward, honoring his memory by living our lives with the same kindness and laughter that he so effortlessly shared with us all.
In his passing, Donald leaves behind a world that is a little less bright without his presence, but we find comfort in knowing that his love and laughter have left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him. Though he may be gone from our sight, he will forever remain in our memories and in the stories that we will continue to share with generations to come. Rest in peace, dear Goober; you will be dearly missed, but never forgotten.
