Dianne Garner

March 10, 1943 — November 18, 2016

Dianne Garner, formerly of Bridgewater Way in Boiling Springs, South Carolina passed away on Friday, November 18, 2016 at Valley Falls Terrace Nursing Center of Spartanburg where she had resided for the last two years.

A native of Great Falls, South Carolina, she was born to parents Ralph and Chiella Granger on March 10, 1943. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother Jim Granger of Lancaster, South Carolina. Survivors include two brothers, Mike Granger of Blackstock, South Carolina and Gary Granger of Great Falls, South Carolina. Also, her two sisters, Rhonda Jones and Crystal Trotter continue to live in Great Falls. There are various nieces and nephews as well. Additionally, she is survived by her two sons, Michael Scott Garner and his wife Linda, and Melvin Dave Garner Jr. and his wife Margaret. Both sons live in Boiling Springs, South Carolina. She had 7 grandchildren as well; Corey, Brian, Savannah, Amber, Logan, Austin, and Emily.

During her years in Great Falls, she spent her time taking care of her two sons and other children and senior adults in need. She was also a speaker and counselor for Alcoholics Anonymous. Upon her passing, she had celebrated 30 years of sobriety. We are extremely proud of her. When she moved to the Boiling Springs area in 1993, she dedicated herself to her children and grandchildren. The love and dedication she “better known as Nanny” gave to her grandchildren was fierce and unmeasurable. She loved spending time at the beach and the mountains with her family. Fall was her favorite season of the year. Additionally, she thoroughly enjoyed the company of her little Pomeranian dog “Pepper” until he died years ago.

We all love Nanny and she left her mark on this world and on all of us. We will miss her but we are comforted in knowing that her pain is over and she can now rest and run in the fields of Heaven with Pepper. There will be no formal service. The family will have a private gathering at the home of Scott and Linda Garner. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Remains Youth Ranch, P.O. Box 160782, Boiling Springs, SC 29316.
