Mom was the daughter of Hugh and Dorris O’shields, she has a brother and two sisters; Alan O’shields, Libby Smith and Carol Gregory. Mom was married to Ernie Edwards until his passing in 2016. Before marrying Ernie, she had two children with her former husband Rick Patrick; Me, Scott Patrick (the clear favorite), and Amy Rogers, who birthed Jake Ledford (the favorite after the clear favorite). Ernie had three children; Lee Edwards, Bobby Edwards and Melissa Crutchfield, whom she loved
dearly, as well as their children.
Mom touched and influenced so many of mine and Amy’s friends lives growing up that not mentioning that here would be a disservice to her and them. She taught us all many things about life through her life experiences, even the mistakes. She allowed us to grow and make our own choices but also how to live and learn from the not so great ones. It helped shape us all into better people.
As if Lupus wasn’t enough, about 16 years ago mom suffered a stroke that paralyzed the entire left side of her body, as well as, affected her speech and mental sharpness.
Many people were involved in trying to ensure mom had the best quality of life that she could during this time but, it was my sister Amy who sacrificed much and without her, mom couldn’t have enjoyed as much as she did and I am eternally grateful.
On Monday 03/02/20 she changed from a physical being on this earth to a memory that will be passed to many generations by the individuals she helped shape.
If, through the lives mom impacted and the pure suffering endured she isn’t allowed to moonwalk through the Pearly Gates, there isn’t hope for any of us.
A memorial service will be held at Church 247 located in Boiling Springs, SC at 3pm Friday March 6th.
