Delesa Forrest Vaughn (Lisa), formerly of 6 Hindman Rd, transitioned peacefully into the glory of the Lord on February 11, 2025, at Prisma Downtown Hospital. She was 70 years old.
Lisa was born on March 28, 1954, in Greenville, SC—the oldest of four children born to the late Rev. Roy Otto Forrest and Martha Cobb Forrest. She graduated from Union High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Winthrop University.
She had a passion for children and touched the lives of many students in Union County and Greenville County Schools from 1974–1990. She was recognized as Teacher of the Year for Greenville County School District in 1985. In addition to her career as a teacher, she devoted herself to ministering to children as a volunteer in countless Vacation Bible Schools, Children’s Choirs, and Woman’s Missionary Union (WMU) ministries. In June 1985, she began her most cherished role as Ralph’s wife. In January 1990, this role expanded when she became a proud mother to Benjamin.
Lisa is survived by her husband, Ralph Benjamin Vaughn; her son, Benjamin Forrest Vaughn, and wife, Taylor; grandsons, Duncan and Finley Vaughn; her sister, Dianne Forrest Courson, and husband, Woodrow; and her brother, Rev. Dean Forrest, and wife, Gayna. She is also survived by her "chosen family": Marlene Vernon; Graham and Vanessa Vernon; and their daughter, Emma Vernon.
She was preceded in death by her father, mother, brother Donald Roy Forrest, and "chosen brother" Richard Vernon. A graveside service will be held on February 18 at 10:00 a.m. at Locust Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Travelers Rest, SC, officiated by Pastor Jerry Long and Rev. Dean Forrest. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Taylors First Baptist Church Children’s Ministry in Delesa Forrest Vaughn’s memory.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers and staff at Spring Park Assisted Living Travelers Rest, TerraBella Summit Memory Care, and Prisma Health Hospice of the Foothills.
