Debra Ann McCollum Morton, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away on August 1, 2024, in Piedmont, SC. Born on May 29, 1965, in Greenville, SC, Debra's life was a testament to the power of love, family, and dedication.
Debra's early years were spent in the warm embrace of Greenville, where she attended Southside High School and graduated in the class of 1984. Her youthful spirit and joy for life were evident in her every endeavor, setting the stage for a life filled with love and accomplishment.
In her professional life, Debra was a devoted employee at Pharmaceutical Associates at Donaldson Center, where she worked for over 14 years. Her commitment to her work was paralleled only by her dedication to her family and her passion for crocheting, crafting, and creating beautiful memories with her loved ones.
Debra's heart was truly at home, where she was a loving wife to her husband, William Alvin Morton, and a nurturing mother to her children, Timothy Bryan Morton (Margaret), Kimberly Alisha Myers (Mathew), and Haley Ryan Morton (Billy Cue). Her love extended to her cherished grandchildren, Savannah, Dameon, Sierra, Kylie, Autumn, Wyatt, Sebastian Mathew, Jaxson, and Julia, and to her great-grandchild, Braxton. Each of them was touched by her warmth, her gentle guidance, and her boundless affection.
Though she now joins her father, Larry Gene McCollum, in eternal rest, Debra's legacy of love continues through her surviving family, including her mother, Ella Jane Therkheld. Her spirit will forever be reflected in the lives of those she touched.
Debra's life was a living example of the words that best describe her: loving, kind, and thoughtful. She approached every person and situation with a heart full of compassion and an unwavering desire to bring joy and comfort to those around her. Her presence was a source of strength and inspiration, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her.
As a mother and grandmother, Debra's love knew no bounds. She instilled in her children and grandchildren the values of kindness, generosity, and the importance of family. Her lessons and love will continue to guide them throughout their lives.
In her leisure time, Debra found solace and joy in the rhythmic dance of her crochet hooks and the vibrant colors of her crafts. These creations were not just hobbies but expressions of her love, each stitch a testament to her care and attention to detail.
Debra Ann McCollum Morton's journey on earth may have come to a close, but her influence will continue to ripple through the generations. Her memory will be cherished, her stories retold, and her love felt forevermore. As we say goodbye to this remarkable woman, we celebrate a life well-lived, a heart given freely, and a soul that truly made the world a better place. We love you, plus one.
