Deborah Holcombe Smith-Medlin
December 26, 1944 — May 3, 2023
Deborah Holcombe Smith-Medlin, 78, of Travelers Rest entered the Kingdom of God on May 3rd, 2023. She was born December 26th, 1944 to Hattie Lela and Osborne Holcombe.
Deborah taught her family to be brave, loyal, and kind. She was charismatic and never met a stranger in her life. Her door was always open and her pitcher was always full of sweet tea. Large family gatherings were her favorite. Her ability to find positivity in any situation was inspiring.
Matthew 12:34 “For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh” was on display in her kitchen. A gentle reminder that our words should flow from a pure heart. Deborah left a lasting impact on those she knew and loved. She will be greatly missed.
Deborah was the kindest and most caring woman. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. She is survived by her husband, John Medlin, siblings; Tony (Rita) Holcomb, Otis Holcomb and Loretta (JW) Minter; sons, Jon (Monica) Smith and Chad Smith; stepson, Robert Medlin; stepdaughter, Angela Medlin Haggerty; grandsons, Evan Smith and Riley Smith; and granddaughters Wilson Carlisle Smith and Emilie Ann Smith.
She was preceded in death by her first husband J.R. Smith; brother Larry Holcomb; and grandson, Joshua Kundolf.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
