David Brockway Sherman

David was born June 3, 1935 to Ruth and Raymond Sherman, long-time residents of Schaghticoke, New York.  He graduated from Hoosic Valley Central School in 1952 and spent three years in the Army.  He graduated from Hudson Valley Community College in 1959 with an Associate’s Degree in Automotive Technology.  Moving to New Jersey, he worked at Bell Telephone Laboratories in New Jersey for six years as a Senior Technical Assistant while attending Newark College of Engineering and Madison University.  He moved to Raymertown, New York for two years.  In 1967 he became a teacher of Automotive Technology at Renneslaer County BOCES while completing a Bachelor degree in Vocational Education at Oswego State Teacher’s College, retiring from teaching in 1995.

Mr. Sherman is survived by his wife, Harriett, his daughter, Cindi Hamel, his sister, Barabra Crassman, and two stepchildren, David Lovejoy and Cindy Hoffstadt, several nieces and 11 grandchildren.  David was preceded in death by his son, Scott D. Sherman, his brothers, Richard Sherman and William Sherman.  Mr. Sherman was an active member of Foothills Community Church in Seneca, SC.  He enjoyed ballroom dancing, sailboarding, skiing, boating and wake boarding.

His Memorial Service will be held at Foothills Community Church on Tuesday, December 1st at 2:00PM.  In lieu of flowers, please support GHS Hospice of the Foothills at 390 Keowee School Road, Seneca, SC 29672.
