David Earl Redman, 67, of Taylors, SC, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 5, 2020, at Greenville Memorial Hospital while surrounded by family.
Born in Lowville, NY, he was adopted by the late John P. Redman and Lillian L. Redman. He was predeceased by an infant brother, John David Redman, in 1950.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Kay Thompson Redman; son, John David Redman (Katie); daughter, Joy Lynn Wetterlund (Ryan); and sister, Sandra Jean Anderson (Dale). Dave is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Liam, Campbell, Noah, and Harvey.
He was a 1972 graduate of Alexander Central School N.Y., honorably discharged after serving four years in the U.S. Navy in 1976, and a 1980 graduate of Bob Jones University. He worked for more than 15 years for Winn-Dixie grocery stores in the Upstate, and more than 20 years for Bob Jones University.
For the past 15 years, he dedicated his life to serving others by joining the S.C. State Guard. He served as a Sergeant, and later a First Sergeant with the 2nd Battalion Alpha Company in Fountain Inn, SC.
He attended Faith Baptist Church in Taylors, SC. His life verse was Joshua 1:9, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
The outdoor funeral service, with full military honors, will be held on Monday, December 14, at 1:30 p.m. in the Committal Shelter at the M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery, 140 Inway Drive Anderson, SC 29621.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made to the Cancer Society of Greenville County.
