David Roger Mize

David Roger Mize, known affectionately to friends and family as Roger, passed away on January 23, 2025, in Roebuck, SC. Born on December 12, 1946, in Anderson, SC, he was a son of the late Julia Sosebee Mize and James Ernest Mize. Roger's life was marked by his unwavering spirit of adventure and his innate ability to bring laughter and joy to those around him.

Roger's early years in Anderson were filled with the warmth of a close-knit family, including his brothers Amoz and the late Winfred Mize, his surviving brother Benny Mize, and his sisters Shirley Landreth and Margaret Elgin. The bonds of family were a guiding force throughout his life, and the stories of their shared experiences became a treasured part of his legacy.

A true patriot, Roger served his country with distinction. His bravery and dedication were recognized through numerous commendations, including the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Service Star, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Combat Infantryman Badge, and the Army Commendation Medal.
