David Willard Edwards

David ‘Dave’ Willard Edwards, 77, of Greenville, SC passed away on July 4, 2021 as a result of injuries sustained from a recent fall. Dave was born on November 15, 1943 in Greensboro, NC to the late Hoyt Pervis and Mary Huffines Edwards.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 55 years, Joan Johnstone Edwards; three sons, David Willard ‘Will’ Edwards, Jr. (Beth), Patrick Andrew ‘Andy’ Edwards (Tanya), and Benjamin ‘Ben’ Johnstone Edwards (Alissa); and two grandchildren, Patrick Arthur ‘Artie’ Edwards and Rachel Helms Edwards. He was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Hoyt Edwards.
Dave was a gentleman in every sense of the word. A graduate of the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and the University of South Carolina School of Law, Dave worked in banking and insurance for over 50 years and loved his profession so much he never thought to retire. Dave was full of grace and was equally comfortable holding court as he was holding space for others. Dave was a servant leader with a warrior heart which helped him in his roles as President of the Board of McCall Hospice House, Past President of the Greenville County Bar Association, Elder and choir member at Westminster Presbyterian Church.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Greenville, SC at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to McCall Hospice House, Greenville, SC; the music program at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Greenville, SC; Meals on Wheels, Greenville, SC; or the charity of your choosing.
