David Lee Edmond Jr. , better known as DJ to his friends and family, was born on February 9, 1984, in Greenville, SC, and passed away on June 18, 2023, in the same city that he loved so much. DJ was a man who truly embraced life, often saying he was "Dang good looking," and loved looking at himself in the mirror. DJ was a funny, loving, and adventurous soul, always ready to make people laugh and enjoy life to the fullest.
DJ was a true family man, leaving behind a loving and extensive family, including his son Landon Edmond, a daughter Skylar Garrett a loving mother Lisa Bennefield, loving father David Bennefield, a sister Lindsey Perry, and a brother-in-law Josh Perry. He was also a proud uncle to his nieces Emma and Lylah Perry, and his nephew Henry Perry. DJ was engaged to Jennifer Hilliard and was a loving father figure to her daughters Keri, Madison, and Ansley King.. DJ is also survived by a grandmother Louise Hopkins and was predeceased by his grandparents Bob Hopkins, Gaynell Bennefield, and Carold Bennefield. He also leaves behind his aunts Rene Driver and Renea Bennefield.
DJ was a man who could light up a room with his presence and was often described as the life of the party. He loved spending time at the beach, exploring the mountains, and going on road trips. He was a bit of a foodie, never missing an opportunity to indulge in his favorite meals. He had a memory like you wouldn't believe, making him the perfect trivia partner. He was also a spiritual man who loved Jesus and had a deep connection to his faith.
In the words of the late, great Robin Williams, "You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it." DJ was a man who never lost that spark and was always ready to share it with others. His sense of humor, infectious laughter, and ability to make others smile will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him.
DJ's love for life and adventure was truly inspiring. He was always up for a new experience, whether it was exploring a new city, trying a new restaurant, or simply spending time with his loved ones. He was a man who lived life to the fullest and encouraged others to do the same. DJ was always there to lend a helping hand, offer a shoulder to cry on, or provide a much-needed laugh.
In the spirit of DJ's love for laughter and humor, let us remember the words of Bob Hope, "I've always been in the right place and time. Of course, I steered myself there." DJ always steered himself and those around him towards happiness, love, and laughter.
As we gather to remember and celebrate DJ's life, let us honor his memory by embracing the laughter, love, and adventures that he brought into our lives. May we carry his spirit with us, continuing to live life to the fullest and cherishing the moments we shared with him.
Rest in peace, DJ. Your legacy of love, laughter, and adventure will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know you.
