David J. Loudermilk, known affectionately as Dave by his friends and family, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2024, at the age of 82. Born on July 26, 1942, in Gastonia, NC, Dave was a man whose life was characterized by a quiet strength and a gentle, loving nature.
Dave was preceded in death by his mother, Azzalean Davis Loudermilk, his father, William Cody Loudermilk, his brothers Johnny and Sam Loudermilk, and his sister, Sandra Walters. Dave is survived by his wife Kathy, numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and even great-great nieces and nephews, all of whom he cherished deeply.
For over 34 years, Dave dedicated his professional life to ensuring excellence as a quality control analyst with Homelite Div. of Textron/John Deere. Dave also served his country for over four years in the Air Force, a period of his life that instilled in him a sense of discipline and honor that he carried with him always.
Dave's interests were as varied as they were passionate. He was an avid viewer of "Jeopardy!", where he would impressively answer the questions with ease, and he found great joy in working on crossword puzzles, a testament to his sharp mind and love for challenges. His love for animals was profound, and he shared his home with four cats, dogs, and a bird, each of whom received his boundless affection and care.
Those who knew Dave would describe him as faith-filled, a testament to the deep spiritual beliefs that guided him throughout his life. His loving nature was evident in every relationship he nurtured, and his gentleness was a comforting presence to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
David J. Loudermilk lived a life marked by dedication, kindness, and a quiet strength that resonated with everyone he met. As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the remarkable man he was and the indelible impact he made on the world around him. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, and his spirit will continue to inspire us all. Dave's journey through life was a testament to the power of living with a gentle, loving heart, and he will be deeply missed.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at 3 PM, at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Wade Hampton Blvd, Greenville, SC 29609.
