Pastor David A Currence

Pastor David A Currence, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 28, 2023.
He was born March 18, 1944 in Creston IA to the late Verl A. & Jean (Gravett) Currence. He grew up in the Maryland suburbs of Washington D.C. graduating from Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring MD. He graduated with a B.S. from Sterling College in Sterling KS and did graduate studies in psychology at Kansas State University (Pittsburgh KS). He then attended Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Hamilton MA. He was ordained into ministry in 1978 into the Conservative Congregational Christian Conference.
Pastor Currence served on staff at Teen Haven ministry in Washington DC as well as pastored churches in KS, MA, NH, PA, GA and WV. He also served as chaplain for nursing homes and county prisons. He was very active with PCA (Presbyterian Church in America) ministries and served on national committees there as well.
After retiring, Pastor Currence retired to Greenville SC to be closer to his sister. He attended Fulton Presbyterian Church in Greer SC. In 2020 he moved into Restoration Senior Living in Spartanburg SC and lived there until his death.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his nephew, David Bennie, and his brother-in-law, Jack Bennie. He is survived by his sister, Verla Currence Bennie, 2 nephews, 1 niece, 1 grand-nephew and 3 grand-nieces.
Celebration of life service will be held on April 22, 2023, 11 am at Fulton Presbyterian Church in Greer. Memorials can be made to Fulton Presbyterian Church, 821 Abner Creek Rd, Greer SC 29651
