David Neil Burnett

September 30, 1972 — June 12, 2024

Greer, SC

David Neil Burnett, known affectionately as Dave to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2024, in Greenville, SC. Born on September 30, 1972, in Athens, GA, Dave's early life was filled with the warmth of Southern hospitality and the close-knit ties of his community.

Besides being survived by his loving wife of 33 years Felicia, Dave's life was marked by his love for his sons, David W., Jacob C., and Matthew B. Burnett. They were the pride and joy of his life, and he instilled in them the values of kindness and dedication that he himself embodied. Dave's sisters, Dana "Liz" Kerswell, Candace Bottoms, and Tamara Williams, remember him as the cornerstone of their family, providing support and love in abundance. Though he was preceded in death by his adopted father, William Bobby Burnett, and his parents, Garry Ray Williams and Phillis Estelle Jones, the legacy of love and family unity they instilled in Dave lived on through his actions and the memories he created with his loved ones.

For 25 years, Dave owned and operated a successful auto body shop, where his expertise and attention to detail were well-known throughout the community. His passion for cars extended beyond his business; Dave was a regular at car shows, sharing his love and extensive knowledge of automobiles with fellow enthusiasts. His work was not just a job but a manifestation of his lifelong interest, and the relationships he built through his business and at these shows were deeply cherished.

Dave was a man of many virtues, but if one were to describe him using just a few words, "loving," "generous," and "selfless" would stand out. His generosity wasn't limited to his family and friends; he was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His selflessness was evident in the way he conducted his life, always putting others before himself, and his loving nature was the glue that held his family and community together.

In his leisure time, Dave could often be found in his garage, tinkering with a classic car or polishing his latest project to perfection. His love for cars was more than just a hobby; it was a way of connecting with others, creating friendships, and sharing stories. Dave's presence at car shows will be sorely missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire those who knew him and shared his passion.

David Neil Burnett's journey through life was one of purpose, joy, and an unwavering commitment to those he loved. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, a community enriched by his contributions, and a family that will forever be grateful for the time they had with him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his wife, his sons, his sisters, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

As the sun sets on the life of a man who was truly the engine of his family, we say goodbye to David Neil Burnett. His life was a journey well-traveled, and he leaves us with memories that will continue to guide and inspire us all. Rest in peace, Dave; your legacy will continue to rev under the hoods of our hearts.
