WOODRUFF - David Michael Brown of Woodruff, SC, 80 yrs young, Honorably discharged US Navy, Baptist and Saved by Jesus Christ. Born July 2, 1942 in Wilmington, NC, Passed away June 9th 2023 at Greenville Memorial Hospital in Greenville, SC with family present. David taught by example to love those who come and go in our lives with respect and caring. David was preceded in death by his parents Carol and Russ Brown, two brothers; Johnny Brown, David Davis Jr. (Cathy Decd, Gloria Davis Survived), a sister; Peggy Proctor, a nephew; Christopher Proctor, ex parent-n-laws; Maxine and Ernest King, an ex bother-n-law; Rocky King (Lisa and children Survived), and Davids close companion Snowball (Dog) and Nugget (Cat). David is survived by his Ex Wife Martha "Tootie", and his close friend Eugene Skinner, also survived by his two children and their spouses; Russell and Christie Brown, Darby and Brett Comer. His grandchildren; Amanda (Joe), PK, Aivryn, Erica, Kristin (Mason), Katie (Storm), Cody, Casey, and Carter. Great Grandchildren; Leon, Roy, Logan, Nevaeh, Reagan, Hunter, Ryan, Riley, and Levi. Additional family and their children (C) or fur babies (F): Nephews; David Davis III (Melinda) (C), Matthew Davis (Jennifer) (F), Niece; Angel Skinner (Kevin) (C), Damien Mitchell (Salvador) (F), Ex Brother-n-laws; Randy King (Katie) (C), Rodney King (Wanda) (C), Ex Sister-n-laws; Patty Salisbury (Carl) (C), Penny Carr (Ashley) (C), Terri Tyo (Billy) (C). He will be missed by his two chosen daughters and their families; Teresa Gingerella (Frank) (C) and Teresa Fraley (C). His Babe (dog) will miss him dearly and will be loved for the remainder of her existence as well as his many fur grandbabies. David held many positions in life; Glass Blower, Chief of Police, Manager of Fast Fare, Trailways Bus Driver, Cotton Mill worker to name a few. Always considered top of his chosen profession. He retired a Truck Driver and is well known by his close friends as "The Sheriff" and "The Lawn Mower Man" a bit of a jokester, a bit honery, a good neighbor, loving friend and seldom without a smile or a good word to say. His family loved him dearly and he loved them. They enjoyed listening to stories of his youth and just being in his presence. He would answer the phone day or night to anyone who just wanted to talk and was good to and received good from his close neighbors who he cared deeply for.
The family will honor David (Daddy, Papa Brown) with a Celebration of life at Point Lookout in Cross Hill SC on July 1st 2023 at 12 noon. A vase will be at the celebration to place home grown flowers in a "Living Bouquet" (preferred). Formal arrangements/cards may be sent to 235 Skinner Road Woodruff, SC 29388 on June 30th (day before celebration) and will be brought to the celebration the day of, by the family. Friends and family are invited to attend and enjoy lunch, old pictures, memories, and love. Please bring your stories and or come just to listen and enjoy this celebration of a great life and loving soul.
