Born Saturday morning February 21, 1970, David Lee Batson was an
answer to his third grade sister Karen’s nightly prayer request. He brought a new
joy to family and friends. David left this earthly world suddenly Sunday August 27,
2023 at the age of 53. He was a Wade Hampton High School graduate of 1987.
David perfected the back stroke while serving on the McForest swim team as a
teenager. Work locations included: Bilo and CVS. He was excellent in customer
service. David loved his family and friends and was a generous, kind, and devoted
individual. David was extremely gifted in landscaping and definitely had a green
thumb, a talent he generously shared in his parent’s, his sister Karen’s yards as
well as his own. He also had an innate musical talent and enjoyed sitting and
playing guitar and piano. He also shared a great love of the ocean. David touched
the hearts of many and will be sorely missed.
David was predeceased in 2007 by his mom, Ruby Mae Hickam and his dad
Eugene Leroy Batson after whom he was named. Surviving members of his family
include: Sister’s Karen Lynn Batson Moyd (David Randle) and Jeanie Ann Batson
Lyle (David Pledger) and many nieces, great nieces, nephews and great nephews.
In honor of David Lee Batson, we simply ask that you hold him dear in your heart
and enjoy life daily and purposefully.
