Darin Douglas Brinkmeyer Sr., 57, of Greenville, SC, passed away on July 1, 2024.


Darin was born on March 9, 1967, in Evansville, Indiana, to Patricia Raleigh and James Wingfield. After graduating from Naples High in Naples, FL, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1984 to 1992. He was a member of the 701st Brigade Support Battalion, 1st Infantry Division, and was deployed during the Gulf War to Kuwait. Throughout his service, he received numerous commendations, including the Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Army Lapel Button, Overseas Service Ribbon, Southwest Asia Service Medal with two bronze stars, Sharpshooter Badge, Army Commendation Medal, and Army Achievement Medal.


Darin was a hardworking man who worked tirelessly to provide for his family. He was known for his dedication, service, unwavering love, and his witty sense of humor. Darin enjoyed grilling out with family, NASCAR, football, and spending time with his loved ones brought him great joy.


He was predeceased by his wife Michelle Brinkmeyer of 21 years before she passed away 2020; his daughter, Jessica Brinkmeyer; and his son, Aaron Smith.


Darin is survived by his wife, Wendy Brinkmeyer whom he married in 2023; his four brothers: Wayne Young, Bryan Wingfield, James Brinkmeyer, and David Brinkmeyer; and three sisters: Kina Brinkmeyer, Kristy Clayton, and Tassie Clayton. Darin also leaves behind his eight of ten children: Darin “Doug” Brinkmeyer, Chania Hilt, Amy Rodriguez, DJ Petrykowski, Josh Petrykowski, Brittany Smith, Darcy Brinkmeyer, and Blake Brinkmeyer; twenty-two grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was raised by Bob Clayton, who he called Dad.


Darin's smile, infectious laugh, straight no BS attitude, long talks, sound advice and the joy he brought to our lives will be deeply missed. the legacy of hard work, devotion, and love will never leave our memory. He was a wonderful husband, father, brother, and friend who left us with a lot of love and happiness.
