Daniel “Dan” Klimek, 86, of Travelers Rest, South Carolina, formerly of Cranberry Twp., Pennsylvania, peacefully passed away on March 15, 2025. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
Dan was known for his humor, kindness, and unwavering positivity. He had a love for archery and was a talented drummer, spending 40 years playing on the riverboats of Pittsburgh—bringing music and joy to countless people along the way. He also enjoyed yard sales and never passed up a good meal, often saying, “That was the best meal I’ve ever had.”
Beyond his love for archery and music, Dan had a special bond with animals, especially his dogs. They seemed to sense his gentle nature, always by his side, offering companionship and loyalty. Whether it was his own pets or any animal he met, Dan had a way of making them feel safe and loved.
Despite a lifelong struggle with crippling arthritis, he never complained. As a man of Catholic faith, he faced life’s trials with joy, embracing each day with gratitude and resilience.
Dan was married to Karen Klimek for 53 years, sharing a life filled with family, laughter, and lasting memories. He is survived by his wife, Karen; his children, Daniel Klimek Jr. (Theresa), Mary Kemper (Roy), and Sarah Avila (Luis); his beloved grandchildren and his sister, Margaret Rudolph Himber (Neil).
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Klimek, and his sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ann and Carl Marrelli.
The family will gather for a celebration of life at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Woodlands Foundation in Wexford, PA, a special needs camp where Dan taught archery for many years, sharing his passion and patience with campers of all abilities. www.mywoodlands.org
Dan’s legacy is one of compassion, love, and laughter. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
