Dale Louis Potter

September 14, 1935 — December 25, 2018

Greer – Dale Louis Potter, age 83, passed away Tuesday, December 25th at his home in Greer.
Dale was born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1935 to the late Lyle and Florence Potter. He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Elaine (nee Hill) and brother Ronald (Arlene) of Cincinnati. He was the beloved father of Chip (Meg) of Naperville, Illinois; Jeff (Leisa) of Greenville, South Carolina and Andrew (Renee) of Anderson, South Carolina. Dale was adored by his grandchildren Grant, Claire and Grace Potter; Kailey and Caroline Potter and Jackson and Emma Kate Potter.
Dale dedicated his life’s efforts to the comfort, well-being and happiness of his family. His love and devotion to his wife Elaine was constant and true. Dale was committed to his son’s endeavors, attending every sporting event and music performance, and providing guiding wisdom as his sons began their own families.
His love was complete with his seven adoring grandchildren. Kailey knew her Pop Pop would attend every play in high school and at Clemson. Caroline could see him in the stands as she cheered the Greenville High School football team. He would brave the elements to watch Jackson play baseball. He loved cheering for Emma Kate at gymnastic events. He and Elaine would drive to Naperville to talk about cars and trains with Grant, and to enjoy band and choir performances of his twin granddaughters Claire and Grace.
His daughters-in-law Meg, Leisa and Renee were the daughters he never had, and he loved being in their company and sharing his unique sense of humor.
A memorial service will be held at 1pm on Saturday, December 29 at Markley Chapel at Christ Episcopal Church, 10 N. Church Street Greenville, South Carolina 29601. The family asks in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Autism Speaks. https://www.autismspeaks.org/
