Daisy Lee McClain

Daisy Lee Hawkins McClain, 90, went to be with her Lord on Monday July 11, 2016. She was the widow of Sammie Newton McClain and the daughter of Benjamin West Hawkins and Millie Rebecca Roach Hawkins. She was predeceased by a son: Ricky Allen McClain and five brothers and three sisters. She is survived by a son: David Newton McClain (Betsy) and two daughters: Sybil McClain Hughey (Michael) and Tammy J. McClain; grandchildren: Stephanie McBride, Stephen Baxter McClain (Amanda) and Stacey Harper; great-grandchildren: Sullivan McBride, Conor McClain, Trinity McClain, Emerson Harper and David Neill Harper.

Daisy was a life-long resident of the Greenville area. For many years she and her husband owned and operated Welcome Cleaners on Haris Street in the Welcome Community.

After the death of her husband Daisy attended Greenville Technical College and earned a Nursing Assistant Certificate. She continued work in this field until her retirement. She was a Strong, Independent, Southern, Christian Woman who gave her all to family.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Westville Funeral Home 6010White Horse Road, Greenville, SC. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm. Burial will take place at Graceland Cemetery West, White Horse Road, immediately following the service.
