Clyde Theodore Sorrells, Jr. of Boiling Springs, SC, went to be with our Lord and Savior Friday, February 24, 2023. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Roseann Wilson Sorrells "Winky", his mother, Mrs. Maxine Sorrells of Brevard, NC, sisters, Helen Fisher (Kenneth) of Piedmont, SC, Rebecca Wykle (Larry) of Pisgah Forest, NC, and Dottie Scott, of Brevard, NC., and a brother, Tom Sorrells "PeeWee" of Goose Creek, SC. He was predeceased by his father, Clyde T. Sorrells, Sr., and sisters Betty McDaniel (Marvin) and Joyce Strickland. He leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews.
Clyde was a Christian by faith and had an honest, kind and fun-loving spirit. He loved to have joke-telling contests with his brother Tommy.
He was a United States Navy Veteran and he worked as a Civilian for the United States Navy for 30 years., first as a crane operator in Charleston, SC, and later as a truck driver based in Panama City, FL.
Prior to his retirement in 2010, Clyde received the Meritorious Civilian Service Award, the 3rd highest award and medal provided to civilian employees by the Department of the Navy for service or contributions resulting in high value or benefit to the Department of the Navy.
Special heartfelt thanks to caregivers, Susan and Ronnie Lowry, and also to Agape Hospice for their loving care provided during his extended illness.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tunnel 2 Towers, Wounded Warriors, Agape Hospice, or the charity of one's choice.
