Clifton Harvey Smith

Clifton Harvey Smith Greenville, SC - Clifton Harvey Smith, 85, of Greenville, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest on October 22, 2024. A small celebration will take place at The Woodlands at Furman at a later date and a private graveside service will be held later in Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla, NY. 

Clif was born November 23, 1938 in White Plains, NY, to the late Alden Connoran Smith and Bessie Kelley Smith. He is survived by his daughter, Breckinridge Smith Lindley (Brandon) of Marvin, NC and their two children, Tucker Thorson and Hadley Breckinridge. He is also survived by his son, Andrew Fleming Smith (Ashley) of Greenwich, CT and their two children, Nathaniel Peter and Emily Susan. Clif’s extended family also includes Kelley Jean Smith, Clifton Markley Smith and Todd Greenwood Smith, all children from his first marriage. Clif was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Anne Beard Smith, his sister, Betty Jean Tolman, a 3-month-old son, Clifton Tucker Smith, as well as four infant children. 

Clif attended Scarsdale High School and was a graduate of The Hill School of Pottstown, PA and was a graduate of The University of Colorado, Boulder, CO. Clif was an avid golfer and, prior to moving to Greenville, was a very active member in the Men’s Golf Association at The Seabrook Island Club. He was also on the National Foundation for Sudden Infant Death.
