Christina Smalley, age 54, passed away on January 25th, 2022 surrounded by her family. Christina was born on December 10th in Greenville SC to Merrill Wayne Gentry and Deborah Stepp Henry. She graduated from Travelers Rest High School in 1985 and went on to do many amazing things. She was a caring wife and loving mother who spent her life taking care of all she loved. Chris was an incredible writer and went on to have some of her poems and songs published. In 1992 she married Richard Smalley and they began a life full of love and adventure until they beautifully passed only one day apart. Chris had many friends and was known to bring fun and laughs with her wherever she went. She was a member of Jones Avenue Baptist Church and loved her church family. Christina always had a way of making meaningful connections with people and enhanced the life of anyone who had the pleasure to know her.
Christina is survived by her parents, Merrill Wayne Gentry (Yvonne) and Deborah Stepp Henry (Michael); daughter Lacy Halstead (Jesse); step-daughters, Beth Castro (Felix), Carolyn Konas (Marc), Christina Ballard (Rob); grandchildren, Nola Halstead, Mitchell Ballard, Evan Konas; Brothers, MacKenzie Gebert (Nina), Travis Gebert (Kathy) Danny Ekstrand (Melissa), Michael Henry (Meredith), Nathan Henry; and her nieces and nephews; Tyler (Kross) Gebert, Wyatt Ekstrand, Dakota Ekstrand, Maddie Harris, Ethan Ekstrand, Liam Gebert, Ethan Gebert, Alecia Grace Henry, and Titus Henry. As well as two brothers-in-law and their children.
A service will be held for Christina on Saturday, February 5th, 2022 at Venture Church (128 Pendleton Street, Easley SC 29640). A visitation will be held at 10 am with a service to follow at 11 am. The service will be held for both Christina and Richard Smalley. We will celebrate the wonderful life of this couple and the impact they made in this world.
