Cherry Brown Marshall, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home on September 30, 2023. Born on March 27, 1931, in Selma, AL. Cherry was known for her loving, generous, and friendly nature. She was a beacon of light in the lives of her family, friends, and community.
Cherry attended Mars Hill College in NC. She worked for the State of SC as a court reporter.
Cherry was a woman of many talents and interests. She was an active golfer and an accomplished pianist, often filling her home with beautiful music. She had a deep love for her family, and she cherished the time she spent with them. Cherry also had a green thumb and found joy in tending to her garden. Her faith was an integral part of her life, and she was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Greenville.
Cherry is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Al) Marshall Cole, and her son, Steve Marshall, Linda Marshall; daughter in law and David Parker, son in law. She was predeceased by her sons, Dana Henry Marshall and John Barrett Marshall, and her daughter, Rita Marshall Parker. Cherry was also preceded in death by her siblings, Irma Brown Goldsmith, Frances McDowell Steele, Kenneth Edward Brown, and Richard Kirkland Brown.
Cherry was a cherished grandmother to Alicia (Jarrod) Braunschweiger, Alex Parker, Davis Cole, Lindsay (Brandon) Lessard, Jessica (Nathan) Jonard, Danny (Kendell) Marshall, Melissa (Andy) Moeck, and Steven Marshall. She was predeceased by her grandson, Greg Marshall. Cherry was also a proud great-grandmother and a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Cherry's life was a testament to her love for her family and her community. She was a woman of strength, grace, and kindness, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. Her family will remember her as a loving mother and grandmother, a generous friend, and a woman of faith. Cherry's legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
