Charlotte Lee Brower

October 24, 1926 — September 6, 2023

Charlotte Lee (Boyd) Brower of Greenville, SC passed away peacefully in her home Wednesday evening, September 6, surrounded by love and family. Raised along with her 5 siblings in Reidsville, NC by parents Ruth and Elmer Boyd, Charlotte worked to send herself to the Harris School of Advertising Arts in Nashville, TN, where she met and married her devoted husband of 68 years, Edward E. Brower, Jr. While there, Charlotte distinguished herself as a gifted artist, specializing in oil paintings, before moving to Chicago, and finally settling with her family in Barrington, IL. Years later, upon moving to Greenville, she became a partner of Brower, Lowe, and Hall Advertising. A woman of great passion, Charlotte was known for her intense zeal for reading, as well as for being an avid and skilled golfer. As a member of the Furman University Golf Course Ladies League, she prided herself on an impressive handicap and a hole-in-one. She also had a great love of sewing, games of Bridge, and music, playing piano, violin, and guitar.

Just shy of her 97th birthday, Charlotte shared her long and beautiful life with her late husband, Edward E. Brower, Jr. and their three children: David, husband of Trudy Brower and father of Devin Brower and Dr. Cheyna Brower (wife of Aaron Brower); Kenneth, husband of Doris Mingledorff and father of Dr. Adrienne Bruce (wife of Dr. Carl Bruce, mother of great grand-sons Nolan and Emmett), Danielle Brower-Lingsch (wife of Dr. Brandon Smith, mother of great grand-daughter Charlotte), and Adam Brower-Lingsch (husband of Sara Amor); and Beth, wife of Dr. Rod Doble and mother of Roddy Doble (husband of Aileen Doble, father of great grand-daughter Eloise) and Sara Van Wormer (wife of Curtis Van Wormer, mother of great grand-son Owen). She is also survived by and will live on in the cherished memories of her sisters, Lorena Mittelstadt and Kay Isley, as well as her loving caregiver, Shanel Davis, and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
