Charles "Chuck" Parr

January 26, 1950 — May 13, 2024

Charles Parr, “Chuck” age 74 passed away on 5/13/2024 after a courageous battle with glioblastoma near his South Carolina home. Born on January 26, 1950, in Endicott, NY, a graduate of Cornell University in 1972 and a proud member of Psi Upsilon Fraternity; he was a force to be reckoned with.

During his working years, Chuck was a leader in business. He was a founding member of the original team of industry execs who joined Ricoh in the 1980s and created a mega force in the United States. Throughout his career, he and his wife, Donna, had the opportunity to travel the world together as a reward for all the hard work each year. During this time, he cultivated numerous friendships with coworkers who have remained extremely close throughout retirement.  Chuck played as hard as he worked. He always gave tremendous energy and attention to what he loved doing most; pedaling with his cycle buddies, planting elaborate and beautiful landscapes at their home, pruning and mowing those landscapes, painting, and creating various art pieces, and paddling in his kayak.

Chuck fought and faced his disease with hope and determination equating his battle with glioblastoma to the likes of the hardest football game he’d ever play or the grueling 21 stages of the Tour De France he so loved watching.

In the midst of this battle, Chuck also found God. On March 18, 2024, he verbally accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and weeks later had attended his "very first Easter Mass" doubling down on a second virtual service for his daughter’s church out of Pittsburgh, PA, all from his hospital bedside.

In his final days, Chuck’s family - Donna, Tanner, and Erica surrounded him with love, music, and prayer and thankfully said their goodbyes.  Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Donna, son Tanner, and daughter Erica along with his sister
Darlene and her husband Jonathan. Preceded in death by his father, Roy, mother, Constance, sister, Debbie, and brother, Ted.

A celebration of Chuck’s life will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, from 2 - 4 pm at The Cabin in the Cliff’s Mountain Park Community 201 Golf Bridge Rd, Slater-Marietta, SC 29661. To honor Chuck’s love of cycling and the cancer fight the family requests that donations be made to LIVESTRONG in memory of Chuck at livestrong.org

Some of Chuck’s last words "We worked hard... job well done... now let's get the heck out of here".
お疲れさん O-tsu-ka-re-san        "well done"

May Chuck rest in eternal peace, free from pain, flying high, and pedaling easy. We hope that Chuck’s zest for life and the countless memories he shared with friends and family continue to bring comfort to those who mourn his passing.
