Charles H. "Charlie" Horne, a man of faith, wisdom, and humor, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2023, in Anderson, SC. Born on August 13, 1935, in Knoxville, TN, Charlie lived a life filled with joy, love, and a deep commitment to service.
Charlie was a man of many talents and passions. He graduated from Clemson University in 1958 with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. An avid sportsman, Charlie played Halfback for the Clemson football team, leaving his mark in the 1957 Orange Bowl and the 1959 Super Bowl. After several years working as an Electrical Engineer, Charlie felt called to a new path. He returned to school, earning a Master of Divinity from Columbia Theological Seminary. Following his calling, he served as a Presbyterian Minister in Orlando, FL, Macon, GA, and Spartanburg, SC, until his retirement in 2000.
Charlie was known for his wit and wisdom. He had a knack for making people laugh, even in the face of adversity. As Martin Luther King Jr once said, "The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy." Charlie lived this sentiment. His faith was unshakeable, his humor infectious, and his wisdom invaluable.

Charlie is survived by his loving wife, Dannie Reynold Horne, his sons Greg Horne and Rick Horne, their wives Jan and Janice respectively, and his daughter Conner Horne. He was predeceased by his son Chuck Horne's wife Donna. Charlie also leaves behind his brother, Gene Horne. Each family member carries with them cherished memories of Charlie's wisdom, humor, and faith-filled life.
In his later years, Charlie often reflected on the richness of his life. He was proud of his career, his time as a minister, and the family he and Dannie built.
