Cathy Lee Williams Summey

Cathy Lee Williams Summey, known affectionately as Cathy to her friends and family, peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 5, 2024, in Marietta, SC. Born on June 26, 1945, in Greenville, SC, Cathy's life was marked by her loving nature, sense of humor, and boundless generosity. She was a beacon of light and joy to all who knew her, and her absence will be deeply felt by many. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Dean Summey; her son, Harold Dean Summey, Jr.; sister, Carolyn Abercrombie; and brother, Eddie Williams. 

Her memory will be treasured and kept alive by her daughters, Angela Hyatt (David), Shonda Smith (Ronnie), and Paige Whitmire (Randy); grandchildren, Jason Marchbanks, Tommy Marchbanks, Michael Hyden, Kayla Godfrey, Jeanene Smith, Madison Smith, Breanna Tobias, Kendall Whitmire, and Bryson Whitmire; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; brother, Bob Williams; sister, Beth Hawkins; special friend, John Thomas “Tommy” McCombs III. Cathy dedicated many years of service as a server at Rainbow Billiards in Easley, SC. Her work was not just a job but an extension of her home, where she welcomed patrons with her warm smile and infectious laughter. Cathy's colleagues and the regulars at Rainbow Billiards became a second family to her, a testament to her ability to create community and friendship wherever she went. A lifelong fan of the Atlanta Braves and the Clemson Tigers, Cathy's enthusiasm for her teams was contagious. She could often be found cheering on her favorite players, celebrating their victories, and standing by them through the highs and lows of each season. Her passion for the game was just one of the many ways she connected with those around her. As we say goodbye to Cathy, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of laughter, love, and cherished moments. She will be remembered for her kind heart, her spirited personality, and the countless lives she enriched simply by being herself. Cathy's story is one of love, family, and friendship, and her memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. Cathy's life will be honored at New Life Baptist Church in Greenville, SC on Monday, October 7th. Visitation from 6:00 PM-6:30 PM. The memorial service will begin at 6:30 PM.
