Cathy Russell deKonkoly Thege

Cathy Ann Russell deKonkoly - Thege, 65, of Newberry, South Carolina died on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at her home. Cathy was born in New Haven, Connecticut on May 11, 1952. Cathy had a passion for her career, working for 23 years in the Cemetery Business aspiring to Financial Controller, she served on a variety of committees with the company to include internal audit and the finance committee at Cemetery Equity Solutions. Cathy earned several distinguished service awards with the company and was known to be firm, but fair. She had a love for animals, country music, ceramics, and appreciated a fast car. She was known to appreciate the love of family and understood the value of bringing family together. To those who knew Cathy, she was the definition of a “ True Matriarch ”.

Cathy is the daughter of Merritt & Agnes Russell of Bethany, Connecticut. She is predeceased by her father, Merritt and her brother, Gary Russell. Those who will most cherish her memory are her husband, Christian (“Chris”), daughter, Carrie and her husband Brian Ludwiczak; two grandchildren, Garrett & Derek Ludwiczak; brothers, Merritt (Jerry) Russell of Sprakers, New York and Eric (Shari) Russell of Bethany, Connecticut., and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service to remember and honor Cathy’s life will be held from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 17, 2018 in the Chapel of Westville Funerals, 6010 White Horse Road, Greenville, South Carolina 29611. The family will be available to speak with friends following the service. A Committal Service and Inurnment will be held at 12:00 P.M. Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the Veterans Memorial Park, 265 Beacon Road, in Bethany, Connecticut 06524. The family will gather and have lite appetizers following the committal.
