Carl Fallavollita, 73, of Taylors, South Carolina, passed away the morning of April 15, 2018, at St. Francis Downtown Hospital in Greenville, South Carolina, after an illness.
He was born January 19, 1945 in Holden, Massachusetts, the son of Armand and Angelina Fallavollita. Carl graduated from West Boylston High School in 1963. His classmates noted that he had an "infectious sense of humor" and was "never at a loss for words." Carl married Eileen Mary Day on November 1, 1970.
Carl served as a yeoman in the United States Navy in the Asia-Pacific region. He was quick to agree that "when you leave the United States, you're camping out." A dedicated man with a legendary work ethic, Carl was a plastics supervisor and assistant plant manager at a bottling company in Westboro, Massachusetts for over 20 years. He later joined the Engineering department of the Hyatt Regency in Greenville, South Carolina.
He enjoyed working in his garden for many years at his home in Massachusetts. There was no need for folks to fear a man walking in the woods holding a paper bag and a steak knife--that was Carl foraging for mushrooms. He also loved many sports, cooking, fishing, and visiting the beach.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Eileen (Day) Fallavollita of Taylors, South Carolina, one son, Paul Fallavollita, of Travelers Rest, South Carolina, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his two brothers Armand M. and Pasquale Fallavollita, and his sister, Mildred A. Alario.
No services will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060-9979.
Special thanks to the staff of St. Francis Downtown Hospital and the Cremation Society of South Carolina - Westville Funerals.
