Candace Edwards Kennett, devoted wife of 55 years to Columbus Dean Kennett
III, passed away on Monday, July 3, 2023. Born on June 28, 1950, Candace was the
daughter of the late John Harold and Elnora Edwards.
Growing up in Berea, Candace was an accomplished athlete at Berea High School
and carried her love of basketball throughout her life, especially the Furman
Paladins. She went on to study at Greenville Technical College and had a 50-year
career in the medical field. From operating room technician to managing the
Cancer Centers, Candace made a lasting impact on the many lives she touched.
Along with her husband, Dean, Candace was a member of Trinity Presbyterian
Church for more than 50 years.
In addition to her husband, Candace is survived by her son, Columbus Dean
Kennett IV, sister, Teresa Blakely (James), brother, Johnny Edwards (Karolyn),
sister-in-law, Beth Windsor (Marty), and sister-in-law, Shirley Kennett. She is also
survived by her grandchildren, Columbus Dean Kennett V (Brittany), Reed Kennett
(Madeline), CJ Carlton (Hannah), Blaze Carlton, Rivers Carlton, Ryder Carlton,
Anna Carlton, Salem Shields, one great-grandson, Krew Kennett, as well as many
nieces and nephews.
The family will hold a private service of remembrance. Memorials may be made
to Trinity Presbyterian Church (Travelers Rest) in Candace’s memory.
