Bruce Edward West, fondly known as Bruce, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2023, in Greenville, SC. Born on December 17, 1949, in Waynesville, NC, to the late Edd Zeb West and Hazel Willett West, Bruce lived a life of dedication, integrity, and love for his family.
Bruce was a proud graduate of Tuscola High School and later earned an Associate's Degree from Blanton Business College. His passion for hard work and commitment to excellence were evident in his long-standing career with Roadway Express, where he served as a shop supervisor until his retirement.
Bruce was a respected member of the Masonic community. He was a 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, a Past Grand Pursuivant, and a Past Master of the Cooper Lodge. His dedication to the fraternity was a testament to his character and his belief in service to others.
Above all, Bruce was a devoted family man. He is survived by his beloved wife, Betty West; his sons, Eddie West and his wife, Shannon, and Brandon West; his brother Keith West and his wife, Jane; his grandson, Josh Brooks; his granddaughter, Macayla "Kyle" Hendrickson; and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, Dean West, whose wife is, Mary. Bruce's family was his pride and joy, and he treasured every moment spent with them.
Bruce had a zest for life and a love for the outdoors. He enjoyed camping and fishing with his family, activities that brought them closer together and created memories that will be cherished forever. He had an affinity for old cars and found joy in watching his sons drag race.
Perhaps one of Bruce's most endearing qualities was his love for storytelling. He had a knack for capturing the attention of those around him with his tales, often filled with wisdom, humor, and a unique perspective on life. His stories will live on, passed down through the generations, a testament to his enduring spirit and love for life.
Bruce's passing leaves a void that will never be filled, but his legacy of love, dedication, and service will continue to inspire those who knew him. He was a beacon of strength, a source of wisdom, and a symbol of love for his family. His memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who loved him.
