Bruce Weldon Murph, 74, of Boiling Springs, SC, entered into eternal rest on April 2, 2023, surrounded by his children. Born on October 13, 1948, he was the son of the late Paul E. Murph Sr., and Gertrude Murph Smalley. Bruce a retired Sargent 1st class of the US Army, served in Korea, Thailand, Germany, Texas, Fort Bragg, NC., and ended his service at Fort Sill, OK, where he retired in December 1991 as a highly decorated military veteran.
Survivors include his daughters: Marchelle Reynolds (Andy) of Lexington, KY, and Wendy Blackwell (Josh) of Moore, SC; son Bruce Wendall Murph(Crystal) of Moore, SC; sisters Sharon Cockrell of Roebuck, SC, and Brenda Murph of Cowpens, SC; fourteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; his second wife Elaine Wisham of Moore, SC, and two very close friends Lynn Tucker of Woodruff, SC and Robert Brian of Boiling Springs, SC.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents; sister Judy Harper of Boiling Springs, SC; brothers: Morris Murph and Paul E Murph Jr both of Jacksonville, FL; grandson Marvin Wendall Murph and great-grandson Oakland Lan McMillan; and his first wife Aneia Bishop.
The family will be at 261 Oak Circle to Receive Friends Tuesday, April 4, 2023, from 5-7 pm. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at 1 pm at Trinty Baptist Church, 390 Wingo Heights Rd, Spartanburg, SC officiated by Pastors Carroll Caldwell and Shawn Rinehart There will be a full military rights service at a later date in Anderson, SC.
