In the sweet, gentle embrace of her home, Brenda Joan Elders, known affectionately as Joan, was called to her heavenly home on September 19, 2023. Born on November 26, 1943, in the humble town of Greer, South Carolina, Joan was a beacon of faith-filled love and friendliness that illuminated the lives of all who were blessed to know her.
Joan was the cherished daughter of the late Floyd Samuel Elders and Ethel Mae Elders. She was the beloved sister to the late Shirley Naughton, Lavina McCraw, and Ricky Elders, and the treasured sister of Carolyn Morgan. Joan was a devoted mother to her daughter, Sharon Riddle, and her husband, Blake. Her legacy of love and faith continues to thrive through her five grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored with all her heart.
Joan was a hardworking woman, dedicating 25 years of her life to Carolina Blouse, now known as McShore Classics. Her dedication and commitment were a testament to her strong character and work ethic. But her work was not confined to the four walls of a factory. Joan was a faithful member of the New Life Baptist Church of Greenville, where she served the Lord with all her heart and soul.
Joan's life was a beautiful tapestry of love, faith, and family. She cherished family get-togethers, where she would often be found at the heart of laughter and love. Joan had a heart for adventure, often embarking on travels and cruises with her sisters. Her love for the Lord was evident in her regular church attendance, where she worshiped with a heart full of gratitude and faith.
Joan was a woman of unwavering faith, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, a friendly neighbor, and a steadfast friend. Her life was a testament to the power of faith, the strength of love, and the beauty of friendship. Her memory will forever be engraved in the hearts of those who knew her, and her legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
As we bid farewell to our beloved Joan, let us remember her not with sorrow but with joy. For she has now returned to the arms of our Heavenly Father, where she will find eternal peace and happiness. Let us celebrate her life, her love, and her faith, for they have touched us all in ways that words cannot express.
In the words of the good book, "Well done, good and faithful servant." Indeed, Joan lived a life worthy of these words. She served her family, her community, and her God with unwavering faith and boundless love. Today, as we remember Joan, let us strive to live as she did, with faith in our hearts, love in our actions, and friendliness in our words.
