Booker T Jones

Booker T. Jones was born May 2, 1927, in Cashville located in Spartanburg County. He was the tenth child of eleven children born to the late Moses Jones & Sarah Cunningham Jones. Booker T. confessed Jesus as Lord of his life at an early age. He was baptized at Lower Shady Grove Baptist Church in Woodruff SC. Booker T. passed through the Gateway to eternal life and peace at his home on October 3, 2024. He was preceded by his wife of 51 years, Abbie Helen Locke of which two children were born, Patricia and Dennis (Tandra) Jones.

Booker T. relocated to Buffalo, N.Y. in 1953, working several jobs before opening his own grocery store in the early 1960’s. He maintained the store operations until his retirement in 2002.

Booker's lavish vegetable garden was a testament to his patience and dedication, flourishing under his attentive care. His cooking, much like his garden, was a source of joy and comfort, with flavors that told stories of tradition and creativity.

Booker T. leaves to mourn his wife Hazel Drummond Jones along with sons Rayford Drummond and Jimmy Gray (Janice). He was preceded in death by Robert Jones, Thelma Glenn, and Mildred Fernandez Smith Gray. He has a host of other relatives including four generations of grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.
