Beverley Joy Clinch

Beverley Joy Clinch – Born May 27th 1954 in Oldham, Lancashire, England

Passed away peacefully on March 7th 2025 in Spartanburg South Carolina.

She was predeceased by her parents Harvey Halliwell Clinch and Enid Cottam Clinch.

She is survived by her sister Adrienne Gail Clinch Cooke Jeremy), , and her brother, Graham Alistair Clinch (Rachel), her nephew Connor Lindsay Clinch, and her nieces Callie Adrienne Clinch and Mackenzie Lee Clinch, Eleanor Joy Cooke, Caroline Elizabeth Cooke, Henrietta Claire Cooke and her faithful dog Winnie.

Beverley had an exemplary career teaching AP US History and Spanish for the past 30 years. Previously she was a Greenville City Magistrate for 10 years.

She graduated from Wade Hampton High School in 1972. She then attended Clemon University and graduated with a History Degree in 1976. She then received her Masters in Education from Converse College 1994.

She then went on to teach for 30 years at Greenville High School, Woodmont High School, Westside High School in Anderson County, Ashley High School, in Wilmington NC. The Consulate High School in Managua Nicaragua, Spartanburg High School, Gaffney High School and latterly at McCraken Middle School.

Beverley was a world traveler and invested in all her students futures, encouraging them to succeed. She was indeed larger than life and we all miss her. Beverley proudest moments were the successes of her students, the beautiful places she visited, and the love of her friends and family.

There will be a celebration of Beverley’s life at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Fernwood Drive, Spartanburg on Sunday March 16th 2025.

There will be a Reception with light refreshments at 2pm followed by her Memorial Service at 3pm.
