On March 27, 2025, at the age of 75, Betty passed away peacefully in Greenville, SC, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and generosity that will be cherished forever.
Betty was the beloved daughter of the late Runelle Merderese and Dilliard Wells. Her life was a testament to the values instilled in her by her parents, which she carried with her in every endeavor. Betty's love story began with her husband, Joe Stone, with whom she shared countless cherished moments and an unbreakable bond. Together, they navigated the joys and challenges of life, always supporting and uplifting each other.
In addition to her husband, Betty's memory will be honored by her extended family, including her brother Roy Wells, sister-in-law Belda Hendricks, brother-in-law Fredrick Stone, and her adored nieces and nephews: Paulette Casey, Christopher Bible, Jessica Bible, EliJan Bible, Thersa Howlie, Timmy Stone, and Ricky Stoner. Betty also held a special place in her heart for her adopted granddaughters, Breaunna Pickens and Carla Price, who brought immense joy and purpose to her life. As well as her God daughter Jennifer Payne, who will miss her dearly.
Betty's home was a sanctuary of warmth and delicious aromas, as she was a loving stay-at-home wife and an exceptional baker. Her kitchen was the heart of the home, where family and friends gathered to savor her culinary creations and share in the laughter and stories that wove the fabric of their lives together. Betty's passion for baking was only matched by her commitment to her church community at First Free Will Baptist Church, where she was a cherished member, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a comforting word.

Her spirited personality was a source of joy and inspiration, and her presence could light up a room. Betty's unwavering faith and the love she had for her family were the cornerstones of her existence, guiding her through each day with grace and purpose.
