Betty Joyce McCarson Parker

July 6, 1953 — January 8, 2025

Greenville

Betty Joyce McCarson Parker, 71, wife of Richard Wayne Parker, died at Easley Baptist Hospital on 01-08-2025. She was the daughter of the late Rev. CH McCarson and Nell Ellington. She leaves a brother, Sam McCarson of Anderson SC and his wife Jean. Joyce (she never liked Betty) also has a sister, Sara McCarson Spence of Lexington, SC with her husband Tom.

Joyce and Sara were lovingly raised in a Christ centered home. However, Joyce and Sara came from a broken home. Due to unknown circumstances, they and seven other siblings were adopted out. Born in Columbia, SC on 07-06-1953 to Joseph Hobby and his wife Sara (unknown), she with her sister were adopted in 1962.

Joyce graduated from Wade Hampton High in 1972, and she and Richard also married in 1972, officiated by her father at East Park Baptist Church. They have 2 children, Lisa Joy Parker Haynes and Richard Travis Parker, both of Greenville. They have 3 grandchildren, Romy Violet Parker, Archie Logan Parker and Nyssa Elizabeth Haynes.

About 2 or 3 years after they marriage, because Joyce still remembered her birth family, she wanted to find them. Years later we found them. The 2 oldest brothers were raised by their Grandmother. The next older brother was adopted by a family. The oldest sister with the youngest sister were adopted by their father's brother. The 2 youngest brothers were adopted to a family. All the siblings were alive when we located them.

The following are the siblings and their spouses, starting with the oldest. Charles Hobby and his wife Shirley (deceased). Larry Hobby (deceased) and his widow Linda. Joe Shealey. Linda Hobby Howell (deceased) and her husband Robert. Michael Huffman and his wife Sandy. Shirley Hobby and her husband Keith and Robert Huffman and his wife Trish.

Last but certainly not least, Joyce leaves behind many nephews and nieces. Finally, Joyce will be cremated and her ashes will be brought home, where her immediate family wish to honor her memory privately at her and Richard's home in Greenville, SC.
