Betty Jean Combs

Betty Jean Combs, a beacon of joy and kindness, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2023, in her hometown of Greenville, SC, at the age of 74. Born on September 20, 1949, also in Greenville, Betty lived a life that was as vibrant and warm as her personality.
Betty was known for her infectious laughter and her innate ability to make every moment count. Her passion for dance and music was evident to all who knew her, as she could often be found twirling around the living room or singing along to her favorite tunes with a sparkle in her eye. Betty's love for dogs matched her love for life, providing her with companionship and countless moments of joy throughout the years.

Those who had the pleasure of knowing Betty will remember her as a loving, funny, and friendly soul. She had the rare gift of brightening the days of those around her with her humor and compassion. Betty's presence was a source of comfort and happiness to her family, friends, and all who crossed her path.

Betty was predeceased by her beloved niece Linda Bingham, her adored niece Violet Turner, her cherished niece Nancy Allen, and her dear sisters Bobby Jean Futrell and Francis Hall. Her loss is also preceded by her fond brother-in-law Billy N. Bingham Sr. Her memory will be treasured and kept alive by her living sisters, Shirley Bingham and Lucille Bowen, who will miss her dearly.

Betty's legacy continues through her family, including her great nephews Randall and Roman Turner, her nephew Charles Turner, and her nephews Robert Shelton (married to Joyce) and Leonard Hopson. Also Timmy and Riley will miss her dearly. Her spirit will also live on through her great niece Francis Thompson (married to Frank), Love Moore (married to Joey), Betty Whitlock (married to Tim), Shirley Jean Fortner (married to Peter), and Lisa Bowen. Betty's great-great-niece Christy Fortner will grow up hearing stories of her great-great-aunt's love and laughter.

Her life was a testament to the power of positivity and the importance of family. Her relatives will hold dear the memories of gatherings brightened by her presence, the sound of her laughter echoing through the halls, and the comfort of her warm embraces. Betty's absence will be felt profoundly, but her family finds solace in knowing that she lived a life full of love and happiness.
