Betsy Langford McClure

January 18, 1937 — September 6, 2021

Betsy Langford McClure, age 84, of Travelers Rest, passed away peacefully at Rainey Hospice House in Anderson, SC, on Monday, September 6, 2021.
Born in 1937 to Eva and J.C. Langford, she started elementary school in Savannah, Georgia, but Betsy and her family were soon back in Greenville where she excelled in school, graduating as valediction from Paris High. A talented musician, Betsy served as pianist at Piedmont Park Baptist Church and eventually was the church organist for many years at Bethel Baptist Church in Greenville. With a head for numbers, Betsy worked as a bookkeeper for several firms downtown during her working years, eventually retiring from the Greenville Symphony. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, traveling, painting, and crafts such as making beautiful homemade cards. She was also a talented photographer.
Betsy was predeceased by her son, Jeffrey Scott Travis, her husband Charles Robert "Bob" McClure, and her parents John Clifton Langford and Eva Connelly Langford. She is survived by daughter Melanie Travis Schlaginhaufen, son-in-law Rick and grandson, Eric Alan Schlaginhaufen, III.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her memory to the senior program at City View First Baptist Church in Greenville, SC. There will be a private graveside service for close friends and family Friday at Woodlawn Memorial Park at 11 am. Seating is very limited due to COVID restrictions.
