Bert Atlee Godfrey Sr.

Bert Atlee Godfrey Sr. (Mike), 79, passed from this life and went home to be with his Heavenly Father on September 15, 2019, at 10:30am due to complications from Leukemia. He was surrounded by his family and loved ones at the time of his Eternal Presence before our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at Saint Francis Hospital in Greenville, South Carolina. We would like to say a special thank you to all the nurses who took care of him on the 5th floor. They were gracious and so loving to him. Also to his Doctors; Dr. Getty's, his primary doctor and Dr. Kahn, his cancer doctor, thank you for taking care of our father.

He owned a small business Go To Go Tires and was a talented wood worker, making and installing cabinets for many years. He also was a Certified Counselor for persons with substance and alcohol abuse for over 30 years.

He loved the Atlanta Braves and watched all the games until his death, he also loved spending time with his family especially his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He love country music, Elvis Presley, old cars, racing and football.

Bert attended Living Sanctuary Church where he gave his testimony on September 8, 2019, only a few days before he left us.

He was predeceased by his parents; George Samuel Godfrey and Effie Pauline Godfrey Riddle, his loving wife Peggy Evatt Godfrey of almost 50 years, and a daughter Stacey Godfrey.

He was 1 of 11 children who predeceased him also. Brothers: Ernest Godfrey, George Marshall Godfrey, Virgil Godfrey, Robert Godfrey, Billy Godfrey, Roger Dale Godfrey. Sisters: Ruth Resnick, Willie Mae Michaels, Panthie Lee Godfrey, and Patsy Trejo. Also a loving niece, Wanda Bolick.

Mr. Godfrey is survived by 4 children, his daughter, Theresa G. Woods (James), and sons, Bert Godfrey Jr. (Jennifer), Samuel Godfrey, and Brett Godfrey, (Beverly).

Also surviving are his 9 grandchildren, Fallon Brucke, Blake Woods, Cole Godfrey, Samantha Ashcraft, Andrew Godfrey, Megan Godfrey, Matthew Godfrey, Blayne Godfrey, Bri Godfrey.

He also has 8 great grandchildren, Cameron and Brooklynn Barnes, Hudson Brucke, Campbell and Allie Woods, Drew Franke, Atlee and Leslie Godfrey, and his good friend Deloris Phillips.
