Bernard Wiltse Barnett III (Brad) of Inman, SC passed away peacefully on October 17th, 2022 at Upstate Community Hospice House in Landrum, SC after an extended illness.
Brad was born in Charlotte, NC (Mecklenburg County) to Ann Mae Bradshaw and Bernard Wiltse Barnett II. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, June White Barnett. A son, Bernard Wiltse Barnett IV (Missy), and a daughter, Cindy McCoy (Dalton) of Midland, NC. A brother, James Barnett of Lancaster, SC. Granddaughter, Allyson Barnett. Stepdaughters, Kellie McDonald McInnis and Karen McDonald (KW) of Spartanburg, SC; Kim Mistler (Mike) of Charleston, SC. Step-granddaughters, Paige and Peyton Mistler of Charleston, SC. Step-grandson Graham Moss (Amber) of Charlotte, NC. Step-great-granddaughter Emerson Lake Moss.
Brad was a commercial and residential painting contractor and owner of BW Barnett Painting Company for 40 years. He served in the US Navy and on the USS Thornback submarine where he was injured in Vietnam and received The Purple Heart. He loved the outdoors and was known to pick up his rifle in the fall to go hunting. Brad also adored cats and the number he took in would surprise you. He was a larger-than-life person and if you ever met him you didn’t forget him.
