Benny Leroy Holden Sr, 79 of Easley SC passed away April 27, 2020 at Prisma Health (formerly Greenville Memorial Hospital).
He was Born to Roy and Jessie Mae Holden in Norris SC (Pickens county) on November 6, 1940. Mr. Holden was formerly a long-term resident of Laurens County SC and previously spent many years in Travelers Rest SC. He retired a teamster (Local Union 509) after working for Roadway.
Mr. Holden was a skilled carpenter, cook and gardener and spend many days of his retirement fishing his favorite lake, Clarks Hill.
After being active for more than a decade with interim Pastor Wayne Parker, he recently became a member of his beloved Cross Roads Baptist Church in Chappelle SC. Under Pastor David Johns, whom he played an intricate role in recruiting in effort to keep the church from dying out.
Mr. Holden was predeceased by both parents Roy Holden and Jessie Mae Holden (Rooker) a son Benny Leroy Holden Jr. two sisters Bonnie Mae Bruce and Elizabeth Ann Sokol and two wives Glenda G Guthrie and Patsy Jane Holden (Walker)
He is survived by two daughters Lisa Bayne (Frankie) of Piedmont SC and Kristine Ferguson (Joshua) of Greenville SC, a brother Tom Holden (Sue) of Prescott AZ, two sisters Bobbie Sue Cook of Greenwood SC and Laura Faye Gregg of Easley SC.
He had six grandchildren: Christopher Holden, Ashley Addington, Brandi Blizzard, Nathan “Troy” Styles, Christian “Cory” Barnett and Bradley Barnett.
In addition, he had 19 great grandchildren and a great numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial will be announced to close friends and family later considering the current pandemic.
