Bennie Smith Carlisle went to her eternal home on the 11th of August 2014.
This departure was the achievement of her lifelong mission of living and sharing the love of her Savior. She was the daughter of the late Hughie and Myrtis Smith, and leaves behind her husband, Ken of 59 years. She is survived by her sister Joy, and husband Rev. William Willingham (D), her brother Ed Smith and wife Janice Smith; Children Robin and Tracie Carlisle, Kim and Steve Johnson; Grandchildren Todd Carlisle, Brandon and Meg Johnson, and Kayla and James Rechenbach. She had many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly. She was also blessed with many friends who were considered to be family. She loved to spend time outdoors planting flowers and creating beauty. She loved to cross-stitch, often sending personalized messages and scriptures to family, friends, and people that she felt needed love. She was a devoted member of Tucapau Baptist church and played the organ there for 65 years. She cooked special dishes for her family, including macaroni and cheese, pound cake with swirls of food coloring, and rice krispie treats dyed a grandchild’s favorite color. She sent out an unceasing flow of love, encouragement, support, and compassion with cards and letters on holidays, birthdays, and times of loss and grief. She was deeply in tune with the emotions of life, having experienced them all, and she was eager to help people through those emotions. Those close to her will remember her beauty and impeccable fashion sense, her collection of elephants, and her immaculate yard and gardens maintained with her husband, Ken. Her faith was her foundation, and she frequently read God’s word, shared it, and lived it. Every day she sought to help others with genuine love and compassion. Her encompassing presence will be greatly missed by all who knew her, but as she always wrote in her cards, “GOD is GOOD!” And now, we can all share in the joy and victory that she has achieved. The Memorial Service will be Wednesday August 13 at 3:00 PM Tucapau Baptist Church with receiving of friends at 2:00 PM.
