Augustus Leigh Shoffner III

Augustus Leigh Shoffner III was born December 2, 1944 in Burlington, NC to the late Augustus Lee Shoffner Jr. and Toree Estelle Mayberry. He passed away on March 21, 2023. Leigh attended Gray High School in Winston Salem NC.

He grew up in Old Salem the historical district of Winston-Salem. He was in the Navy and worked for Piedmont Airlines, the City of Chapel Hill NC, City of Baltimore Maryland and was in the Dry Wall industry for many years.

Micky, as he was known by his childhood friends, loved "The Ridge"and spent endless hours photographing the natural beauty around him. He was a storyteller, poet, philosopher and a forever friend. Through the years he cherished his canine companions Yankee, Buddy, Patch and especially his constant companion in later years, Duke. He did not have children of his own, but was a significant part of Rachael Patterson's life in teaching her to love and appreciate nature and to "always be true to yourself."
His devoted friends the Howell Family, Kevin, Tampey, Jessica, Kayla, and Lauren, Jo and Rachael Patterson will always love and miss him.
