Arthur Carl Nuttall, 71, of 368 Pimlico Rd., Greenville, SC 29607, died after a recent illness at Prisma Health – Greenville Hospital on Wednesday, August 5, 2021. Born on March 6, 1950 in Seneca, South Carolina to parents Mary Ann Blackwell Nuttall and Arthur Nuttall, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Anne McCoy Nuttall, of the home, children: Russ (Leslie) Nuttall and James (Anna) Nuttall; grandchildren, Elli Grace Nuttall and Emily Nuttall; brothers, Steve (Myra) Nuttall and Rusty (Luanne) Nuttall. Carl was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. He was a graduate of Seneca High School, The Citadel with a B.S. degree in Physical Education, and the United States Army War College. He was a sales representative at Nuttall Insurance in Seneca, South Carolina for 40 years. Carl had a distinguished military career of 31 years, retiring as a Brigadier General for the United States Army Reserve in July 2016. Among his military accomplishments, Carl served as Executive Officer, 457th Chemical Battalion, United States Army, Saudi Arabia. His final assignment – Deputy Commanding General for Mobilization and Training, United States Army Ordinance Center and School, Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland. His awards and badges were Meritorious Service Medal – with 4 oak leaf clusters and Army Commendation Medal – with 2 oak leaf clusters. Carl enjoyed the simple pleasures in life – listening to beach music, dancing, Citadel football games and being with family, especially his grandchildren. He never met a stranger and made many friends along the way. A funeral service will be held at 1:30, Sunday, August 8th at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Greenville, SC. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Carl’s memory be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church and the Citadel Brigadier Foundation
