Arline Florence Samolik Barnes, known affectionately as Arline to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2024, at Cherokee Medical Center in Gaffney, South Carolina. Born on March 4, 1943, in Middletown, Connecticut, Arline was a beacon of love and joy throughout her 81 years of life.Arline was the cherished daughter of the late John and Evelyn Rogers Samolik. Her life was enriched by the love and companionship of her late husband, William Austin Barnes, with whom she shared a passion for travel and adventure. Together, they explored the world, from the sun-kissed beaches of the Caribbean to the vibrant city lights of Las Vegas. Arline's love for animals was evident in the care and affection she showered upon their five Yorkshire Terriers, who were the couple's pride and joy.Arline's legacy is carried on by her loving family, including her sons Wayne, John, Richard, and Robert Barnes; her daughters Pamela Barnes Charcut (husband Philip), Donna Barnes Ledbetter (husband Tim), and Vicki Barnes; her eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her sons Danny and Larry Barnes and one grandchild, who now welcome her with open arms.Arline's zest for life was matched by her selfless and spirited nature. She was a woman of impeccable taste, earning the playful nickname "Mad Money Arline" for her uncanny ability to spot a sale and her love of shopping. Her wardrobe was a testament to her sense of style, as she never left a store without finding a new piece of clothing that caught her eye.Throughout her life, Arline's loving and selfless character touched the hearts of all who knew her. Her spirit and enthusiasm were contagious, and she had a unique ability to light up a room with her presence.
