Anne Victoria Gallitelli Smith of Anderson SC, formerly of Millburn NJ, passed away in her 95th year on 3/29/2018. Memorial services will be held in New Jersey, and announced to family and friends at a later date.
Born in Bernalda, Italy 1922, Anne grew up in the Township of Millburn, NJ. She worked as a volunteer during WWII with the American Red Cross, and went on to volunteer with them for 27 years. She also served as an air-raid warden during the war. Anne went on to have a long and distinguished career with Investor’s Savings and Loan of Millburn, and was a long-time member of the Business and professional Women’s Club of Millburn-Short Hills.
She was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church, and worked on the Bereavement and Anoint- ing Mass teams, while also serving as a Catholic Christian Doctrine teacher and lector. In her retirement years, prior to moving to South Carolina, she worked with the Life-Lighters group for 15 years, eventually serving as a director.
Predeceased by her husband Seth Smith, father Saverio, mother Carmela Gallitelli, brothers Ben, Frank and Sam and sister Mary, she is survived by her brother Edward, loving children David S Smith and Margaret (Roy) Ivey, and her beloved grandsons, Eric and Elliott Smith. She leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends. She will be missed deeply by all that her life touched.
