Anne “Sunny” Siefers arrived at her heavenly home on March 23, 2021, at the age of 73. Born in Spartanburg, South Carolina, she was the youngest daughter of Richard and Elizabeth Owen and youngest sibling to Elizabeth McCall, Virginia Owen, and Richard Owen.
She was the mother to Melody Watson (spouse Rick Watson) and Larrie “Duck” Henderson (fiancé Brandy Goulde). She was “Grandma” to granddaughter Melissa Cartee, “Nan” to grandson Adam Henderson, and “GG” to great-grandson Cameron Cartee. She was “Aunt Sunny” to nieces and nephews.
How do you capture the essence of someone as unique as Sunny in a few short paragraphs? For starters, Sunny loved Jesus, the beach, football, cats, and her family – in that order. (We all know she loved us dearly!) She was steadfast in her faith and a mighty prayer warrior. She longed for the day when she would be in heaven with her Savior. In her younger years, she would walk the beach for hours looking for shark’s teeth and collecting shells. In her later years, you could find her watching football with three or more felines piled in the bed with her.
All who knew her will never forget her sense of humor (sometimes quite colorful), not holding back her opinion (even in public situations), and her knack for telling it like it is! She loved to “shop” online which usually meant having 40 plus items in her shopping cart that were never ordered. Her favorite phrase was, “That’s what I’m saying.” Her favorite food was – well, all of it! She cared about those less fortunate (which was evidenced by the fact that she was constantly giving away her stuff). She loved life and had an undying love for her family.
Sunny worked as a nurse for over 40 years. To her it was more than just a job, it was a calling. And she did it with love and compassion for both her patients and their families.
Sunny will be cremated and a private family “Celebration of Life” will be held in lieu of service. She was a firm believer in “paying it forward” so instead of flowers, plants, or memorials, she would hope that you will do an unexpected act of kindness for someone less fortunate.
