Anne Hawn Duble

December 2, 1944 – January 19, 2016

Anne Hawn Duble died peacefully in her home surrounded by family after losing her battle with cancer on January 19, 2016.  She was born December 2, 1944 in Easton, Pennsylvania to the late John and Anne Hawn.  Anne was the youngest of three children.  Her brother Reverend John Hawn preceded her in death.

Anne grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina.  She graduated from Myers Park High School in 1963 after which she attended Lenoir-Rhyne College.

She married William L Duble on March 27, 1971 and in the pursuit of his career they moved in order to New Orleans, Saint Louis, and Kansas City; the married couple always hoped to return to the south and ultimately they moved to Greenville, South Carolina.  Anne had many talents; during her career she worked in retail sales, was an entrepreneur starting a home cleaning service with a dear friend, and held various leadership positions both in her community and her church.  Of her achievements, Anne was most proud of her roles as homemaker and as mother of three children.  Anne often befriended those in need of a second chance, and she championed that people need to be loved the most when perceived as least deserving.

Anne is survived by her husband Bill, her three children Kelly Meline, Clay Duble, and Jill Warrick, in addition to five grandchildren and one great grandchild.   She has one surviving brother Ken Hawn of Charlotte, North Carolina.

A visitation will be held at Memorial United Methodist Church in Greer, South Carolina on Sunday, January 24 from 2:00-4:00 pm.  The service to celebrate Anne’s life will follow at 4:00pm.

The family wishes to thank Gentiva Hospice and the Saint Francis Hospital System both of Greenville, South Carolina for the assistance provided to Anne in her last days.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Memorial United Methodist Church, Gentiva Hospice, or the American Cancer Society.
